Lowering Cardiovascular Risk. The Exercise, Research and Technology (EXERT) Vascular Lab concentrates on health-related research across several disciplines using translational cardiovascular approaches that are both cellular and integrative in scope. Current research projects integrate aspects of cardiovascular function, metabolism, inflammation, nutrition status and exercise/physical activity, and the impact on blood pressure and endothelial function. We focus on endothelial function and cardiovascular risk status in healthy adults as well as at-risk populations or those who suffer from chronic diseases including hypertension, type 2 diabetes, kidney disease and obesity.

Researchers take blood pressure
We study obesity, hypertension, and the control of blood flow and responses of the microcirculation to surgery, diet and exercise interventions. Other research interests include the impact of cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, alcohol consumption and high cholesterol on macro and microcirculatory function. We are funded by the National Institute of Health.
