The purpose of this research is to improve our understanding of the best type of exercise for African Americans and Caucasians to do to improve blood pressure and the health of the heart and blood vessels. Your participation in the research study may last 6 months and includes health and nutrition screening and assessment, aerobic or weight training exercise, ultrasound evaluations of blood vessel function, and body fat analyses. In addition, you will be asked to provide urine, blood, and fat samples. This research does not directly benefit you as a participant. However, our findings may be important for both the long-term prevention of cardiovascular disease and optimization of exercise guidelines for African Americans and Caucasians.
